“The kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field. When a person finds it, they hide it and then in their joy they go and sell everything they have to buy the field.” Mathew 13v44
“Every teacher of God’s Word who has been instructed about the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his store room new treasures as well as old”. Mathew 13v52
This is Alexander Venter’s blog. I am married to Gill, and we have two adult children, Zander and Misha-Joy. We have lived in an intentional Christian community since 1991, with a number of other families, on a small farm south of Johannesburg. It is called The Field, taken from Matthew 13:44 above. We believe God’s treasures are found and uncovered and shared in the field of our relationships, as a community of God’s kingdom.
I’ve been an ordained pastor since January 1975, first with the Assembly of God, and since 1982 with the Association of Vineyard Churches. I have planted and pastored churches in Cape Town, Zimbabwe, Johannesburg and Soweto. I have also authored three books, Doing Church, Doing Healing and Doing Reconciliation, all available – with my other teaching CDs, DVDs, etc – through the Kingdom Treasures website. The website, as well as this blog, is an extension of my ministry as a teacher of the kingdom of God, to bring out and share the treasures of the kingdom, both old and new, as per Matthew 13:52.
